The team got involved in everything from charity football matches against Hughsie FC, to a dance-a-thon led by instructor Katie Weaving, to bake sales, raffles and a silent auction.

Gym administrator and event organiser, Kayleigh Miller, said: “The support from everyone has been amazing. From our members, to our neighbours and the community on Burton Waters, to our staff members and local businesses, everyone has got involved to say thank you to our local hospitals.

“Some of our members work for the NHS, many members are receiving treatment and others have their own personal reason to support the NHS. All of us have benefitted from the NHS during our lives and what better time than during the 75^th anniversary year of the NHS to say thank you.”

The team managed to raise £3,017.31 and hopes to organise more events to support the charity in the future.

Phil Skayman from Hughsie FC said: “We organise and play in a lot of charity events across the county and were really pleased to be involved. We all had a great time and the best news is that we also raised a lot of money to help local hospital staff and their patients.”

United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity Manager, Ben Petts, added: “Every penny raised by David Lloyd Lincoln will be used to directly support patients and staff. A massive thank you to everyone involved.

“We have amazing colleagues in our hospitals and for them to hear that local communities and businesses are showing their appreciation in this way will mean so much to them. Donations like this really do make a difference. They enable our charity to be able provide the additional extras to elevate the work of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust that cannot be provided by the NHS.”

Over the last 12 months this has included:

• the purchase of a new interactive sensory play system for sick children at Lincoln County Hospital
• supported the refurbishment of a bereavement room on a labour ward at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, that is warm and comforting for parents to spend precious time with their child
• the purchase of a digital therapy system for elderly patients living with conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s that allows them to listen to music, watch old films and enjoy activities as part of their recovery in Lincoln, Boston and Grantham hospitals
• the purchase of an interactive play scanner to help prepare children for a diagnostic test at Grantham and District Hospital
• supporting staff wellbeing across Lincolnshire.
