I was a healthy, active 51-year-old—until everything changed on 9 January 2024.

While out running, I suffered a severe stroke. I’m incredibly lucky to be alive.

The Stroke Unit team cared for me with extraordinary compassion during the most frightening time of my life—not just me, but my family too. I left in a wheelchair, promising I’d one day walk back in.

Recovery continues. I’m getting stronger physically, but the hardest part is what you can’t see—fear, anxiety, and the psychological impact.

This challenge will push me physically, but I hope it also helps lighten that invisible weight. I’d love to raise funds for the unit—but above all, awareness.

Because a stroke doesn’t just affect one person—it affects everyone around them.

The promise to walk back in was genuine, although I didn't perhaps mean the 5 mile from home. So on the 03-Jul-26 I intend to give it my best shot.

Endeavour through adversity someone once said.
