Lee Anthony Southern

02 Aug 1956 - 20 Apr 2024

As some of you know, Lee received treatment and care at the QMC in Nottingham earlier this year. He was well enough to return home and eager to be back in his favourite chair. However, continued intravenous (IV) antibiotic treatment was necessary. Thanks to the invaluable support of the OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy) Lincolnshire team, daily visits from their dedicated staff allowed Lee to return home and receive this treatment rather than lengthening his stay in hospital. This was especially important because of the rural location of the family home. Daily trips to Nottingham or Lincoln for treatment would have been extremely challenging due to the distance and limited transport options. Lee, and his family, were incredibly grateful for this service, particularly knowing the limited number of patients OPAT can assist at any one time. In Lee's memory, donations can be made to OPAT Lincolnshire. This will ensure others facing similar challenges can benefit from this exceptional service and find comfort and healing in the familiar surroundings of their own homes.
