Me and Jemima will be joining 2000 Santas as we take part in the 18th Lincoln Santa Fun Run and Walk through historic uphill Lincoln, on the 17th December, to fundraise for the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity.

What does the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity do?

Each year the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust roughly serve a population of over 750,000 people, on an average year our Hospitals will treat in excess of 140,000 accident and emergency patients, over 600,000 outpatients, over 140,000 inpatients and around 5,000 babies are delivered.

Founded in 1996, the charity has been supporting our staff to deliver outstanding care to our patients, their families and carers at Lincolnshire Hospitals. The charity funds the extras which they know can’t be provided by the NHS alone, such as numerous projects, pieces of equipment and extra’s to support the Trust’s workforce and the patients cared for. Some highlights of their work have been:

Funding a Sensory Room at Pilgrim Hospital Boston.
Purchasing a new MRI Scanner for the people of Louth
Wedding boxes for end of life patients.
Teddy bears for babies on the neonatal unit.

Alongside these items for patient care and support, the Charity also fund wellbeing initiatives and support for our NHS workforce. These have included:

Funding the tidy and refurbishment of our outside spaces so staff can enjoy breaks outside.
Funding Christmas meals for staff working over the festive period.
Over £140,000 worth of items for staff in our Thank You Initiative.
The difference we make is seen daily all across our Hospitals.
