The charities support has been instrumental in helping maternity bereavement staff go that extra mile in making an indescribable heartbreaking journey that little bit easier for families.

Hi, I’m Rachel, the specialist bereavement midwife at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
My work is not physical, but emotional, it’s hard sometimes not being able to take the pain from a family and to not be able to provide what they want the most.

But I take comfort in the fact that I can provide hope and support healing. All this has been made possible by funding from the charity.
For the past four years the charity have provided funding to support Baby Loss Awareness Week events, from crafting days, candles and books as keepsakes, lantern walks and most recently a memorial bulb planting event. Year on year these events have grown and families have been able to come together and remember their babies in a supportive and positive space.

They have helped fund the bereavement suite on Labour ward at Pilgrim hospital, and last year, they provided 2 years worth of funding for bereavement counselling for families who have suffered a pregnancy loss or neonatal death.

All this has made a phenomenal difference to families and the feedback has been fantastic.
However, in order to keep providing these services we need to keep fundraising.

We want to continue with the bereavement counselling and to add a bereavement suite at Lincoln so all Lincolnshire bereaved families get equality in comfort and a non clinical environment to spend precious time making memories with their baby.
This will only be possible with your help.

I have asked friends, family and colleagues to join me in raising funds. We are going to Run, walk, skip bounce and jump, it’s not the distance, the challenge or the speed, it’s the cause.

During moments of unimaginable grief, comfort, kindness and specialist support can make all the difference. By donating or fundraising you’re helping families feel held, supported, and cared for when life feels at its darkest.

Join me, have fun and above all, make a difference! Rachel Bond
